Keep Your Phone Calls Secure. on Any Mobile Phone!

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009
Fabiol asked:

Let’s face it, for the citizen of the modern world, being connected at any time has become a primary need.

And along with the need of being connected and reachable in every moment, goes the need of being secure, and safe from prying eyes and ears who might keep a watchful eye on us and the things that matter to us, either business or personal. So, if on one hand being always available can benefit your business and personal life, on the other hand, it means that your whereabouts are always known, or at least traceable… and the same can happen to your conversations.

Do you fear that someone may listen to your conversations or intercept your messages on your cell phone? Are you looking for a definitive solution to mobile phone privacy and security problems?

The answer is called Safe & Talk.

Safe & Talk is a software solution that enables you to make encrypted secure calls over the standard GSM network with an extreme reliability, by encrypting your calls and your SMS. Basically, it is a piece of software which can turn any regular mobile phone into a secure handset, by encrypting your phone calls and protecting them against tapping and malicious interception.

It runs on a 256-bit encryption key, that can be changed at any time, and its software will automatically configure itself according to the encryption standards of the network you are using. No complicated settings to be configured, just install it, turn on your phone, enter your secret key and you are just a phone call away from security and safety!

Secret keys can be changed at any time, to ensure that they cannot be hacked by a third party, and can be entered every time if necessary. Changing the key regularly will help in maintaining a high level of security.

Apart from technical details, in a few words we may say that the times when only high-end cellphones could feature high-security accessories are over.

With Safe & Talk, you can turn any standard cellphone running on a Symbian operating system (the standard, for example, on camera phones), into a secure device! This kind of item is available in specialized online Spy Shops that you can visit for more information.

How Mobile Phone Towers Work

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009
Paul Fitzgerald asked:

Cell phone towers emit signals in a “flower petal” pattern around the tower. This 360-degree radius around the tower is called a “cell” and this is what the term “cell” in cell phone means. (5) When your phone is in a “cell” you get good reception and when it isn’t in a “cell” you get poor reception. So, for a cell phone company to provide complete coverage cell phone towers and antenna towers must be positioned all across the country so that the “cells” overlap. You can begin to see what a huge infrastructure needs to be created to provide complete cell phone coverage. That’s why cell phone towers and antenna towers are so prevalent. Furthermore, that’s why these antennas are installed in so many places like rooftops, fire stations, schools and churches. This is what is necessary for complete coverage.

Studies Show Adverse Health Effects From Cell Phone Towers

If you aren’t sure that cell phone towers and masts are harmful the following study summaries should convince you. Below are listed six studies that have shown significant adverse health effects on people living near cell phone towers. According to Dr. Grahame Blackwell “these are the only studies known that specifically consider the effects of masts on people. All six studies show clear and significant ill-health effects. There are no known studies relating to health effects of masts that do not show such ill-health effects.” (6)

1. Santini et al. found significant health problems in people living within 300 meters of a cell phone base station or tower. The recommendation was made from the study that cell phone base stations should not be placed closer than 300 meters to populated areas. Pathol Biol (Paris) 2002; 50: 369-373.

2. A Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research study entitled, “Effects of Global Communications System Radio-Frequency Fields On Well Being and Cognitive Function of Human Subjects With and Without Subjective Complaints” found significant effects on well being including headaches, muscle fatigue, pain, and dizziness from tower emissions well below the “safety” level.

3. Gerd, Enrique, Manuel, Ceferino and Claludio conducted a Spanish study called “The Microwave Syndrome” and found adverse health effects from those living near two cell phone base stations. The health effects included fatigue, a tendency toward depression, sleeping disorders, difficulty in concentration and cardiovascular problems.

4. From an Israeli study published in the International Journal of Cancer Prevention, Vol. 1, No. 2, April 2004, Wolf and Wolf reported a fourfold increase in the incidence of cancer in people living within 350 meters of a cell phone tower as compared to the Israeli general population. They also reported a tenfold increase specifically among women.

5. In the Naila Study from Germany, November 2004, five medical doctors collaborated to assess the risk to people living near a cell phone tower. The retrospective study was taken from patient case histories between 1994 and 2004 from those who had lived during the past ten years at a distance up to 400 meters from the tower site. The results showed that the proportion of newly developed cancer cases was significantly higher in those patients living within the 400-meter distance and that the patients became ill on average eight years earlier. In the years 1999 to 2004, after five years of operation of the transmitting tower, the relative risk of getting cancer had trebled for residents of the area in the proximity of the installation compared to the inhabitants of Naila outside the area.

6. An Austrian Study released in May 2005, showed that radiation from a cell phone tower at a distance of 80 meters causes significant changes of the electrical currents in the brains of test subjects. All test subjects indicated they felt unwell during the radiation and some reported being seriously ill. According to the scientists doing the study, this is the first worldwide proof of significant changes of the electrical currents in the brain, as measured by EEG, by a cell phone base station at a distance of 80 meters. Subjects reported symptoms such as buzzing in the head, tinnitus, palpitations of the heart, lightheadedness, anxiety, shortness of breath, nervousness, agitation, headache, heat sensation and depression. According to scientists this is the first proof that electrical circuits in the brain are significantly affected by a cell phone tower. The distance in this study was a mere 80 meters.

Two-time Nobel Prize nominee Dr. Gerald Hyland, a physicist, had this to say about cell phone towers. “Existing safety guidelines for cell phone towers are completely inadequate. Quite justifiably, the public remains skeptical of attempts by governments and industry to reassure them that all is well, particularly given the unethical way in which they often operate symbiotically so as to promote their own vested interests.”

Dr. Bruce Hocking did a study in Syndey, Australia, of children living near TV and FM broadcast towers, which by the way, are very similar to cell phone towers. He found that these children had more than twice the rate of leukemia as children living more than seven miles away from these towers.

Results in yet another recent study (7) conducted on inhabitants living near or under a mobile phone base station antenna yielded the following prevalence of neuropsychiatric complaints: headache (23.5%), memory changes (28.2%), dizziness (18.8%), tremors (9.4%), depressive symptoms (21.7%), and sleep disturbances

(23.5%). In this study the participants were given a neurobehavioral test battery measuring such things as problem solving, visuomotor speed, attention and emory. Symptoms of exposed inhabitants were significantly higher than control groups.

Furthermore, Europe’s top environmental watchdog group, European Environment Agency (EEA), is calling for immediate action to reduce exposure to mobile phone masts. EEA suggests action to reduce exposure immediately to vulnerable groups such as children.

The development of brain tumors in staff members working in a building in Melbourne, Australia, prompted the closing of the top floors of the building. The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology is housed in the building. Seven staff members were diagnosed with brain tumors and five of the seven worked on the top floor. A cell phone antenna is located on the roof of the building. (8)

The Orange phone company in England is being forced to remove its mast tower on a building in Bristol, England. The removal is a result of a five-year effort by residents and local authorities to have the mast removed. Cancer rates in the building, which has become known internationally as the “Tower of Doom,” have soared to ten times the national average for the 110 residents living there. The two masts sitting on the roof, one owned by Orange and the other by Vodafone, were installed in 1994. Vodafone has refused the remove its mast. (9)

The Effects Of Radiation In The Cause Of Cancer

Monday, March 30th, 2009
Paul Fitzgerald asked:

Cancer is, unfortunately, spreading in the modern society. Nearly all cancer forms are increasing when it comes to incidence, i.e. new cases/year (cf. Hallberg & Johansson 2002a).

It could recently be read in the BBC News that skin cancer is rising in young adults, and Sara Hiom, head of the health information at Cancer Research UK said, when interviewed, that “Non-melanoma cancers are rising at an alarming rate”.

Non-melanoma cancers are rising at an alarming rate

More and more research efforts goes into understanding the molecular mechanisms behind these various progressive cancer forms, and much more money is spent on finding new drugs to treat patients. However, oddly enough, very little is spent on understanding the actual causes for cancer.

Among such possible causative agents, more and more focus is nowadays put on modern gadgets, such as mobile telephones and computers, and their chemical and physical emissions, including flame retardants and electromagnetic non-ionising radiation.

Childhood leukemia was early connected to power-frequent magnetic fields already in the pioneering work by Wertheimer and Leeper (1979), and more recently Scandinavian scientists have identified an increased risk for acoustic neuroma (i.e., a benign tumor of the eighth cranial nerve) in cell phone users, as well as a slightly increased risk of malignant brain tumors such as astrocytoma and meningioma on the same side of the brain as the cell phone was habitually held (Hardell et al. 1999, 2004, 2005; Lonn et al. 2004).

In addition, a clear association between adult cancers and FM radio broadcasting radiation has been noticed, both in time and location (Hallberg & Johansson 2002b, 2004, 2005a). Initial studies on ****** nevi indicates that nowadays also young children can have a substantial amount of these.

If it can be shown that radiofrequent radiation is not correlated with child cancers the current focus on low-frequency electromagnetic fields can continue. If there is also a radiofrequent and/or microwave correlation then this must be considered in future research as well as in today’s preventive work.

Most recently, Dr. Djemal Beniashvili and other scientists at the Edith Wolfson Medical Center in Holon, Israel, have demonstrated a possible link between exposure to power-frequent electromagnetic fields and ****** cancer in elderly women (Beniashvili et al. 2005).

They compared the ****** cancer rates in elderly women from an earlier period (1978-1990) to a more recent period (1991-2003), which has been characterized by a much more extensive use of personal computers (more than 3 hours a day), mobile telephones, TV sets, and other household electrical appliances. They used available medical records extending over a period of 26 years, involving the analysis of more than 200,000 samples.

Most recently a possible link has been demonstrated between exposure to power-frequent electromagnetic fields and ****** cancer in elderly women

Among the elderly women who developed ****** cancer in the first time frame, 20 percent were regularly exposed to power-frequent fields.

But in the more modern period 51 percent were so exposed, mainly through the use of personal computers. The authors concluded: “There was a statistically significant influence of electromagnetic fields on the formation of all observed epithelial mammary tumours in the second group.”

This represented a more than two-fold increase, which was considered highly significant (cf. Beniashvili et al. 2005).

Of course, many other environmental factors have changed during the period 1978-1990, but increased environmental exposure to power-frequent fields is among the more conspicuous changes to have taken place. Naturally, there are many aspects of this question that remain to be clarified, and, from a scientific point of view, it is far from conclusively settled.

Backing Up Cell Phone Data

Sunday, March 29th, 2009
K. Lynn asked:

An unfortunate part of relying so much on technology is that when something goes wrong, and it often does, we can find ourselves hopelessly lost without copies of emails, phone numbers, addresses, and all of the other data we rely on our cell phones to keep safe for us.

Data can be lost in a variety of ways, keeping a back up of all of your important cell phone data can be vital not only to ensuring little to no interruption in your business but also can help save your sanity!

Dropped – a dropped phone can result in a cracked display that can make it impossible to read your screen to retrieve data.

Washed – it may sound silly, but several carriers have reported having phones returned to them for repair with evidence pointing to the phone having been submerged. The problem is one that is so prevalent that phone makers have now put on most of their handsets a small sticker that changes color when exposed to water. Check behind the battery of your cell phone, chances are that you’ll see it!

Lost or stolen – Occasionally phones do get lost or stolen; when they go they take with them your valuable data!

Data Storage and Transfer Devices

There are several third party devices on the market that can help you back up your cell phone data as easily as one push of a button. Backup Pal is a device that plugs into the data port on your cell phone and, with the push of the one button on the device, transfers all of your data safely. Your data can then either be stored on the device or transferred to a new phone if you are upgrading to a new cell phone. Several other devices on the market are specifically just for backing up SIM card data. A great feature of all of these devices is that they can be used to transfer data between phones on different networks.

Software Packages

Many cell phones arrive with a data cable and device drivers that will allow you to connect your cell phone to your computer. Connecting your cell phone to your computer is not only the fastest way to sync your email and contact folders, but it is also a great way to ensure that any data stored on your phone is then backed up and stored on your computer. In addition to the software that may accompany your phone, there are several third party software packages that will allow you to successfully backup all of your data. Also incorporated with these software packages is the ability to manage and organize your data on your computer, and then sync back to ensure your cell phone has the most recent copy of your data.

Your Carrier

Several carriers give you the option of uploading your data to their website, allowing it to be safely stored at no extra cost to you.

If you are upgrading to a new cell phone, you may consider simply just saving your data to your SIM card before you move it out into your new phone. This is a fast and effective way to switch data between handsets.

Brain Cancer – Symptoms of Brain Cancer

Sunday, March 29th, 2009
Rich jammes asked:

However most types of cancers can be beaten, if you catch it up soon enough, and even if you don’t there are new treatments coming out by the minute everyday that will help you fight and successfully beat cancer. There are however some types of cancers that are more complex in nature than others, brain cancer is the one we’re speaking of and the one we will be focusing on.

Two types of known brain cancer exist, namely: Primary brain cancer (these generally initiate in the brain), Primary brain cancer almost never moves to any other part of the body, so death is brought on by uncontrollable tumor growth within the brain cavity. Then you get metastatic brain cancer or otherwise known as secondary brain cancer (this type of cancer originates in other parts of the body and get transported or should we say it migrates to the brain thus causing the person to circum to secondary brain cancer.

Types of brain cancer

As most other types of cancer, brain cancer is also classified as primary brain cancer and secondary brain cancer. Primary brain cancer is the one that originates from the brain itself i.e. that originates in the brain cells. Secondary brain cancers is the one that doesn’t originate from the brain cells but is instead passed on from another organ/ part of the body

Causes of brain cancer

As is the case with many other types of cancer, the causes of brain cancer is a big topic for researchers. However, certain genetic conditions and exposure of head to radiation (as received during radiotherapy as part of treatment of other conditions) are known to be causes of cancer. There are a number of other theories that keep coming up time and again, each suggesting different possible causes of brain tumor (one famous one is about mobile phones causing brain cancer). However, there really isn’t a very convincing theory about what causes brain cancer.

Symptoms of Brain Cancer

Brain tumors can damage vital neurological pathways and invade and compress brain tissue. Symptoms usually develop over time and their characteristics depend on the location and size of the tumor.

Cancers are typically painless at first. As they grow, the first symptom is often a mild discomfort, which may steadily worsen into increasingly severe pain as the cancer enlarges. The pain may result from the cancer compressing or eroding into nerves or other structures.

The symptoms are caused by the tumor pressing on or encroaching on other parts of your brain and keeping them from functioning normally.

A sign is also an indication that something is not right in the body. But signs are defined as things that can be seen by a doctor, nurse, or other health care professional. Fever, rapid breathing rate, and abnormal breathing sounds heard through a stethoscope may be signs of pneumonia.

As the skull is made of bone, there is a fixed amount of space for the brain to take up. The growing tumor increases the pressure inside this fixed space. This is called ‘raised intracranial pressure’.

Herbal treatment for Brain Cancer

If you suspect you have a brain tumor, see a physician immediately. A CAT scan or MRI of the head can usually confirm the presence of a tumor and pinpoint its location. If a tumor is found, the physician may take a CAT scan of the chest and abdomen to make sure the cancer has not affected other areas of the body. If the tumor is localized and is situated in an area where removal is possible (on the outer surface of the brain, for example), surgery may be performed. However, some tumors-particularly those located deep within the brain tissue-cannot be operated on. In these cases, radiation and chemotherapy will be used to destroy cancerous cells. (See “Conventional Medical Treatment” in the “Bladder Cancer” entry for more information on radiation and chemotherapy.)

Cell Phone Auto Accidents

Sunday, March 29th, 2009
Nick Johnson asked:

Many studies show that talking on a cell phone while driving causes auto accidents. A cell phone can be very distracting, especially when you are driving a vehicle . When it rings, you have to fish it out of your pocket, purse, bag, or briefcase, flip it open, find the “talk” button and then hold it to your ear to speak. All the while, you are not paying attention to the road or the drivers around you, which can, and does, cause auto accidents.

When you are driving, regardless of how experienced a driver you are or how lax traffic may be, you can cause an accident by trying to talk to someone on your cell phone while you are driving.

There are plenty of accessories for your cell phone that can help to prevent accidents such as hands free head sets and Bluetooth, which means you can speak on your cell phone with only the press of one button, and in some cases, by voice activation. These accessories drastically reduce the chance of a auto collision by keeping your attention on the road instead of on your phone.

No phone call is that important. And no one is that much in a hurry that you have to fiddle with your cell phone while you are driving. Your caller can leave a message and you can return their phone call.

Ideally, if the phone call is important, finding a safe place to pull your car over on the side of the road, out of the way of traffic is the ideal way to answer your phone while you are driving. However, some accidents are caused when people are swerving over to the side of the road to get to that “safe place” to pull over.

It is important that you remain concentrated on the task at hand, driving, and wait until it is safe to pull over. Slamming on your brakes or swerving across lanes of traffic is not concentrated or safe and can cause cell phone auto accidents really easily.

Not only is answering the phone a distraction for drivers, but reaching for it, dropping it and rooting around for it in a purse, pocket or bag, is equally as distracting. Many accidents have been caused while drivers are distracted trying to locate or reach their cell phones.

The only solution for accidents is to stop using them in vehicles all together, or only use them with hands free, voice activated accessories. In this technological age, it seems that everyone has a cell phone. And everyone is in a hurry to find out who is on the other line.

With cell phone technology has come accessories that limit distractions to drivers. Hands free, voice activated accessories allow drivers to answer the cell phone, speak to the caller and end the call with voice activation only. While it may seem like an unnecessary expense, wrecking your car, driving the price of your auto insurance to the sky or potentially ending your life is a much bigger price to pay.

A Harvard University study shows that cell phones cause over 200 deaths and half a million injuries each year in the United States. These injuries and deaths, as well as the vehicles that are ruined, can be drastically reduced if drivers stay focused on the road and other drivers rather than on answering a call.

When people drive in their vehicles, there are many distractions that can cause accidents, including loud music, smoking cigarettes, crying babies and more. Imagine that you have your music on loud to sooth the crying baby, you’re smoking a cigarette and you can hear your cell phone ringing somewhere in your purse. You are on the highway trying to get to the baby’s doctor appointment in time.

Now, you have some serious distractions. You have to turn down the music, put down your cigarette, sooth the baby yourself, find your cell phone, and answer it all while you are driving. A cell phone auto accident waiting to happen? Absolutely.

This is just one example of how drivers can be so completely distracted while they are driving. In the example above, it would have been easier for that person to ignore the phone call until they got to their destination.

Cell phone auto accidents can be avoided, with proper care and attention while driving.

Caitlin Crosain asked:

The issue of driving and cell phones has become a prominent one. In the states of New York, New Jersey and D.C. as well as in the province of Newfoundland, cell phone use while driving has been banned. Do you think this is a good idea or not? Is cellular phone use any more of a danger than eating or smoking while driving? Both mobile phone users and non-users have a wide variety of opinion on this matter. If you use a wireless phone, keep in mind that cellular phone providers can offer you cell phone accessories that eliminate the major reasons why wireless phone use while driving is considered to be dangerous. The busy person who spends a lot of time traveling (for example, a salesperson) often has a valid reason for needing to use a cell phone while in transit. You may simply be spending much more time on the road than in the office. Hands-free headsets are an excellent way of safely using a mobile phone while traveling. Some wireless providers offer hands-free headsets as part of their mobile phone deals. These days you can obtain free cellular phones that offer voice recognition dialing. This makes it easy to program your telephone with important numbers and their associated names, and ensures that while driving you never need to even touch or look at your cell phone. For the average person who simply carries a mobile telephone for safety reasons, extra cell phone accessories and features are not as necessary. It can be assumed that in the case of an emergency, such a user would pull off the road to use the mobile phone. If however, you are someone who is using their cellular phone for business, consulting with your wireless phone provider about the best cellular phone accessories for your needs is recommended. This site offers an extensive list of companies that can provide you with free cell phone packages, cell phone accessories like hands-free headsets, and virtually any other cellular phone requirement you might have. Please take a look at them to find exactly what you need!

Is Mobile Phone Necessary or Not?

Sunday, March 29th, 2009
yotang asked:

As we know, mobile phone is one of the electronic products, it radiates electromagnetic wave every second. Maybe we cannot feel any effect to our brain, nerve, heart or other organs, but my friend, please blieve it is harmful to our body. With using electronic products for long time, the rate of falling cancer, heart disease increases, our health is turning more dangerous.

What need we do? or we should throw all electronic products including mobile phone away? should we shout loudly: mobile phone, Get away from me, you are useless for me?

But is that real? OK, let’s have an imagine about our life without mobile phone.

For example, you have a date with your girlfriend, but when you arrive on time, she is not here, it doesn’t matter. Half an hour later, she still doesn’t come out, no problem, maybe traffic jam. But the same two or three hours later, at that time how do you think? You will think confusedly: oh my god, what happened? Hope everything is OK. please let me know her present situation. How happy it is to have a mobile phone!

Without mobile phone, our life will be inconvenient. We can’t contact others eventhough they stand nearby; we can’t ask for help if we are in danger; our friends can’t find us or tell us their funny stories; we will feel that we have been forgiven by the world…it is unthinkable.

So eventhough sometimes mobile phone is boring, and it is harmful to our body, but we hardly live without it, it is necessory for us.

“This is indeed a contradiction, and there are contradictions all over the world.” said Ivan from www.yotang.com
